Thank you so much for this reminder from the Gospel of Thomas … “while you have time in this world”.
I can so easily forget to use my time wisely and get caught up in meaningless things. Interestingly, I was only a few hours ago reflecting upon the time I have wasted.
We are so fortunate to have access to Belsebuub’s videos that are so readily understandable, but it’s also great to be able to read, reflect on and attempt to decipher the ancient texts as well.
Day dreaming needs so much real attention since it’s obvious that these egos will never stop without any real action. It’s so hard to fight against them but it’s such a horrible way to live if nothing is done.
Thanks again Belsebuub some great insights in this talk, your talks and guidance have always been very helpful, and especially they give me hope so that I can walk forward.
Thanks Belsebuub this is a very profound talk, you spoke about a lot of things that require a lot of reflection, it really stuck out how you said the day dream gets stronger and compulsive when we are in a heavy emotion, something to look into
This talk strikes a chord within me and the things said deserve a lot of reflection. Especially the last part of the talk regarding self knowledge, creating things within, and how it is not being valued while they are the most important things of all.
I find myself questioning what it means to value self-knowledge and to really long for it? And how do I make sure that this is what my life is about? What makes me loose interest and devalue it? It deserves more time than just listening to it here and I can see there’s a lot of learning and work ahead. Thanks for sharing it.
Good points Roy. Watching this talk sparked the same sorts of reflections in me. Mostly I was struck by the singular focus and attention or seriousness towards facing the realities of who we are as we are, and working to improve – and consequently improve our lives. The way Belsebuub describes things often has that added effect of bringing it back to the core like that for me.
Hi Jordan,
Those are good insights. Last week, I made some notes of this video and watched it again mid week. A few things stood out.
Belsebuub says: “The way we are made up as human beings masks what is going on within us.”
This is a powerful statement regarding passivity. Nature won’t allow us to get to in-depth knowledge if we don’t make a continues effort. These efforts like you say should be within the moment, making this very practical. Belsebuub highlights this even a little later in the talk when he’s asked the question. It sounds very simple, if only the mind wouldn’t interfere and make things complex :)
Troubled.
From what I’ve seen from my own life, it is as Belsebuub says in this video.
If we manage to pull ourselves out of the great distraction. And then make all the efforts we have to be clear, going with the practices we know to our limits…. only to find how little we are. How little perception of reality we have. It is terrifying. Desperately wanting to have it changed immediately, but knowing it cannot just be shifted like that. (and is anything more even possible? How much? Where does it lead? What is perception like with the light within?)
Realising such a scary fact, to their own degree for each person, seeing a bit of the reality of their situation, many turn back into distractions, sleep, ignore-ance.
As perhaps this quote also refers to:
“Many men often notice the possibility of coming out of the coffin, and understand the word coffin literally; they show their heads over the edge, but the idea of freedom that they see scares them and they soon go back into their coffins, and even close the lid with nails so nothing disturbs their sleep.” Flight of the Feathered Serpent
Even when taking it further, applying our very best efforts with the spiritual techniques we know, we may be granted to be shown, in the astral for example, how dire our inner state is. How something is fundamentally not okay. I don’t think such experiences are cruel ‘scaremongering’ from above, exaggeration is not needed to prove the point, rather the veil of the reality of the situation needs simply be lifted a little. This is actually a help, to be shown something like that.
On a positive note, in deeply feeling how little we have our deep inner goal changes, we want to go for something of real substance, and anything less will not do. But to get to where we want to go requires a lot of work.
Perhaps these words relate to this kind of poverty.
“Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.
He said:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Gospel of Matthew 5 (niv)
