A video discussing what it takes to have inner peace and its repercussions upon society and the world.
The egos are temporary, they are not permanent, consciousness is the real you. Peacefulness arises from being aware in the present moment.
A talk from Quebec in Canada in 2004.
Thanks Belsebuub, and thanks for posting the video Lara. It’s good to be reminded constantly of those things; the volume of work required to find real peace; the temporary nature of the ego states that, at the time, are so pressing and all encompassing; and most of all, the importance of just keeping going; picking yourself up after a setback and pushing forward. I remember a quote that a friend related to me one time (a Japanese proverb I think) “get knocked down 7 times, get up 8”.
It’s always great to watch any of Belsebuub’s videos.
Great wisdom thanks Lara for the video.
Thank you for sharing this video again. I watched it some years ago, and while you’d think “lesson learned” actually means “lesson learned,” it’s incredible that no matter how much you have understood at one point or another, things can still get out of sync so easily over time — and gradually enough too that you don’t even notice something completely fundamental may have gone amiss… I’m truly amazed at how forgetful I can be sometimes and even more amazed that I can be a “repeat offender” with this forgetfulness… It’s helpful to have these talks up, even if they are not a new teaching, as obviously the “old” lessons still need a lot more work.
Thanks for sharing this video Lara, I found this video very beneficial.
A lot of people are really interested in mindfulness and meditation techniques but seem almost atheist and have no interest in things of an esoteric nature. Will these people in time have a more spiritual interest or do you think it takes life times for your being to give you that urge?
There are so many little gems in this video, each worthy of deeper reflection. For instance:
– “Peace is an almighty power. It takes a war to get to peace”
– “We might have an idea of a better world. But because the way human nature is, it doesn’t happen. The same thing repeats”
– “Peace, then, if we have it, is with us in a timeless way. If we don’t have it, we are completely deficient as people”
– “Fight to be in that consciousness. That’s the point to do this whole work from.”
This video is a priceless pearl of instilled wisdom. Thank you for sharing it.
You are right Craig, I too found that this video holds many gems that anyone can apply to their life and start this journey towards peace. One I found really helpful is:
You fight and search for that peace to be inside
Some really amazing descriptions and powerful insights in this video.
The one that sticks out most for me is Mark saying, “it takes a war to get to peace”. So true.
Thank you for putting this together and making it available for us.
Yes that part of Mark’s talk stood out for me too Priya, and seeing you highlight here pushed me to question it in my approach towards experiencing peace. There is so much passivity within us that unless we dig our heels in and fight for it, then peace just won’t happen.
It is easy to stay in a lethargic inner state and feel powerless against the ego states, but it seems to me, from my experience, it’s a lack of battle for peace, and just hoping all the bad feelings will go away and we can feel good again, instead of fighting for the experience of real peace.

Great point Layla. I also find it takes this constant pushing with internal efforts, as the inner forces of darkness are also continuously pushing us down. If we do make efforts we can create this momentum within, but I’m all too often still tricked by that mindset of ‘I made some efforts, things are okay’ and I ease off a little with a surprisingly quick decline internally as a consequence.
A very powerful and meaningful video!
It inspires me deeply how Mark points and highlights the repeated practical daily difficulties we have in capturing real peace in us, how the egos from moment to moment take us away, and also guides and gives me a momentum to strengthen and try more to get out of my sleep.
“You fight and search to get that peace inside from the consciousness”
“Fight to be in that consciousness. That’s the point to do this whole work from”
“Peace is not simply the absence of conflict. Peace is an almighty power.’
Thank you deeply Lara for sharing this wonderful video.
Excellent talk, loved every moment.
Thanks Mark, it’s always such a pleasure to hear your talks.
Thank you for uploading this video. I found the explanation of transitory nature of the egos particularly powerful.
Brilliant insights Mark, thank you
There’s a very interesting bit about city life in there which I can certainly relate too. About those energies there of so many people gathered, hurrying, daydreaming, in low states, the mechanical sounds, the rubbish in the streets, eye-catching advertisements etc. and with the lack of nature and natural things around. It can be very difficult to live in such a place, it’s definitely a struggle to be aware and maintain in inner level in such an environment. If an effort is not made inevitably one gets caught up in this mass of energy that all the people are in. Like the video says it’s still possible to be in peace within, but because of the weight upon your psyche it can be difficult. For me especially the continuous unrelenting sounds of city living can be tough in allowing peace within. On the other hand when persisting and upon finding some peace and quiet it becomes very much appreciated.
This is a great video and the other articles from that retreat focusing on peace as well. Thanks very much.
“Peace is not simply the absence of conflict. Peace is an almighty Power.”
I’ll never forget being at those talks and am forever grateful to have had that opportunity. Watching this, somehow it seems like it was just yesterday, and at the same time, ages ago.
Well it’s not as good as being there in person of course, but really glad that these videos are making it online to have a chance to revisit things and so others can benefit from hearing these things too.
Thanks, another great video with great insights. It always comes back to the basics…
