Triple J radio host Dave Callan and Belsebuub discuss karma, and how cause and effect can influence us in ways we can’t necessarily see. On the Graveyard Shift show on Triple J, ABC Radio in Australia, March 2009.
This is the last of the radio interviews that were recorded. Many thanks to Jon who edited them and uploaded them to YouTube.
Thank you for that interview!
I missed listening to this interview when it came out and when I did recently give me a very good intellectual picture what karma is all about.
I remember when I was younger I was testing my luck (as I named it then) get into a bus with or without a ticket to see if and how often I would be caught by a ticket check. Like triggering things to see how they work.
I end up cancelling a ticket every time I was using public transportation taking my lesson after that research.
Now looking back into my life there is a vast of mistakes that they are must hold a karmic response and I feel them so heavy inside of me.
Try to serve humanity and the Light to shine is all I can do now and look forward paying what need to be paid.
Thank you also Dave, for hosting this interview. It’s obvious that is a different type than others because of your more serious approach to that matters.
Great talk and questions and answers.
I find it difficult to comprehend that many people don’t believe in karma and dharma, but I see it in action in my life over and over, both through the material world and in dreams. We just have to look.
As Belsebuub says though, the important thing is self-knowledge. Learning to act well and not react in the first place will help us not to create even more karma than we already have
Its very interesting belsebuub mentioning how we can get premonitions of events related to karma in our dreams.
A few years ago i was shown very clearly a scene of a girl that was coming into my life, with specific details including her name, etc….
This dream materialised shortly after that, from here i went through a very tough relationship that now i can understand as a very karmatic time of my life. As much as i seen it as a punishment at the time, i realise now how much knowledge was gained from it and how it truly was a blessing in disguise….
This has helped me see how important karma is and why it is so important to work hard on yourself when these events take place, as there is a lot of wisdom to take away if you can transform it!
Thanks so much belsebuub for this valuable post
Hi Chris,
Thanks for sharing this experience. It’s extraordinary that you learnt such specific details in advance, including the girl’s name. Reflecting on karma can bring about a sense of wonder at the level of intelligence that is at play behind every event in our lives. When I think significant events in my life and the people and circumstances that led to those events, it’s mind-blowing to think how many people’s lives were involved, sometimes over several generations.
Each of our lives is really like an epic story, where new and sometimes insignificant-seeming characters are introduced and where events gradually unfold over time, but as we get deeper into the story, the exquisite level of complexity and unity behind it is revealed.
It was very useful to listen to this interview. There were many instances of an instant karma that I have experienced and because of that it made me change my ways but I often forget to watch my subtle actions that are also having consequences which I cannot see as clearly.
Thank you..
Thank you Mark and Lara for sharing this video and to Jon for the efforts to edit the talk and prepare it for YouTube. I’ve listened to this interview a number of times since it was first broadcast and agree that it has a lot of depth to it. Dave asks some very pertinent questions, which Mark is able to expand upon with great insight.
I can relate to what has been said in these comments about karma being a double-edged sword – sometimes even a “blessing in disguise”, due to the learning it brings. I have had some serious difficulties to face during my life, which have often been very unpleasant to go through. But in hindsight, I can see how those difficulties changed the course of my life and led me to search for a way to change my own psychology and to explore the nature of consciousness. Eventually this search led me to find these esoteric teachings, which I’m truly grateful for. So in many ways, the karma was indeed a blessing, as it led to something far more beneficial in the long run.
This reminds me a lot of one of Mark’s talks on his story, where he mentions that whatever he tried in life didn’t seem to work, so he was “in a way funnelled into spirituality” as the ordinary life gave no real pleasure. In that talk, he also says that “despite all poverty and difficulties that I was born into, it was just right for me – it was the ideal setting. It was exactly what I needed” and later discusses with a caller how it’s actually more difficult to find real spirituality when events and circumstances in our lives are pleasant.
If I compare my life with others who have the things which many aspire towards in our society, such as wealth, success and good health, at face value it could appear that those in more favourable circumstances have been dealt a better hand and have been given a lucky break. But without difficulties, it’s very easy to settle into a comfortable life. The need to search for a way out tends not to express itself when everything we need is provided for us and since everything material passes, it makes me wonder who really got the lucky break.
I’ve also found that going through difficulties has made me appreciate what I have more, as it’s so easy to take things for granted when we sail through life without facing any major resistance or obstacles. But when we have to really struggle for something, it makes us appreciate it much more and want to hold onto it once we gain it. One of the most valuable pieces of learning I feel I’ve gained is the understanding of how precious time is and how fleeting our lives are in the wider scheme of things. It’s a common and tragic human flaw to think that hard times will never come our way while we pursue endless pleasures, but as Mark and Dave discuss in the talk, every action has its consequence, which depends on whether the motivation behind it was from the consciousness or from the egos.
Now when I look back on my life I’m much more grateful for the learning I’ve received, despite the various hardships. I don’t have many regrets about mistakes I’ve made anymore either, as I see that I learnt a lot through these too. What I do regret however are the occasions where I can now see the harm I caused to others through my own irresponsible actions and negligence, but was blinded to the consequences of my actions at the time. I can’t go back and change the past, but as every action we do is taken into account, at least I have the chance the pay the karma I’ve gained through past mistakes by applying the spiritual principles I’ve learnt to my life in the best way I can and by doing so, to also gain the dharma I need to move forward.
Thanks so much for this interview. It was very unusual and deep. I remember as a child I was kind of “waiting” for something to happen, like I could almost feel it getting closer. I wonder if it was karma I was waiting for. Because something did happen. And it was painful. But it did teach me a lot. I guess karma is there to teach us.
Thanks for sharing that Anne Linn. I’m sorry you had to go such pain in your life, but I’m glad that you were able to use those events for learning and as an impulse to search for the divine. I hope that you will one day be able to help others facing similar difficulties, through the knowledge and personal experience you have gained by going through suffering.
One more excellent interview.
Every single action creates an effect. Big responsibility, how we live and react to every event of life.
It gave me insights into options of life that I hadn’t realised until now, although, it is supposed, I knew about it.
I experienced recently the effect of a wrong action and how to correct it. This interview gave me a deeper understanding on this.
I am really thankful, Mark and Lara for sharing this interview.
Recently I had a dream showing me a certain karma coming my way, at the time I was hoping to be wrong and that maybe it was fear creating an event in the astral, but 3 days later here it was. As I write today I’m suffering from this karma and it’s very difficult to lift myself up, it feels like my appeals to my Divine Mother are not working but I hope to push through it and learn to free myself from these terrible egos.
How beautiful it must be to live intelligently, happy and free from all which keeps us in darkness.
A found this talk to be very helpful and I’m sure others will get a lot out of it.
Wishing you much peace and strength to get through John.
I wish you too, all the best and strength to get through John
Wishing you strength John. Strength and light.
Thanks for sharing your situation John. I wish you a lot of strength and guidance to keep pushing forwards and to extract whatever learning you need to gain from it.
I’ve had those situations as well before, John — seeing a dream, knowing what seems to be coming, but hoping your interpretation is wrong or something is off there… Wishing you lots of strength to get through whatever you’re facing — and thinking of you as well.
Gosh though, dream guidance, vivid out of body-experiences, premonitions, karma, dharma, prayer, miracles — what an incredibly complex and beautiful system of learning is in place for us all around :-o . Overwhelming to consider all these things at once.
Thank you very much for all your warm wishes.
A long time ago, Belsebuub told me to remember to pray to The Masters of the Law with the times ahead, and every morning at sun rise I love to learn from this amazing opportunity.
How blessed we all are to have The Masters of the Law.
Hope you have paid off that karma and it has now passed. Wishing you all the best.
This talk discussed some very serious and esoteric subjects! Thank you very much for kindly sharing with us this knowledge.
I seemed to learn the concept of karma when I was still a teenager and then gradually my understanding of it kept changing and changing…I guess I see now karma as a “blessing in disguise” because it comes from the Divinity. It looks like that karma is administered very intelligently, taking many complex matters into consideration, seeing a big picture of life, understanding our real priorities and inner potential. I can`t wholeheartedly say that I like karma applied to me, but I certainly respect it and appreciate its existence. I think karma is one of the best learning tools.
From another hand, it would be so much more wonderful to replace it with a superior laws, destroy the roots of karma and use our vital energy and fleeting moments of our lives for things, which are much greater and significant, rather than to be stuck in untying old karmic knots and creating the new ones.
Thank you for sharing this interview, Mark and Lara.
It makes me want to overcome even more all the obstacles that I see I need to clear out of my way to receive more guidance on my situation.
